Mason is 15 months!

Mason is 15 months and wow is time flying!
We went for his 15 months check up and he weighed 25 pounds.  He is the 70% for weight and 40% for height.   Logan was always in the 80-90% for height.  Mason is our short and round little guy.  He got his shots and was a real trooper, not even one tear!
He has been learning and doing all sorts of things it seems like over the past few months.

  • Boy, does this guy have a temper on him! If he sees a toy and wants it and we take it from him (no honey, I don't want you to choke on a Hot Wheels car) he gets so mad.  Screams at the top of his lungs and throws himself on the ground and kicks his legs.  This goes on for about 15 minutes, sometimes longer.  And there is NO consoling him.  Logan is such a sweet big brother and tries to give him another toy, or a snack or something and he will just shoo it away or hit Logan.  One time, Mason was throwing a fit in the bathtub the other night and I was trying to bathe him and he was kicking and screaming and went under the water.  I pulled him up so quick, scared me. We never had these bad of temper fits with Logan so this is all new to me.  The best thing we can do is ignore him and he will eventually calm down. He also throws fits when we put him in his car seat.  As you can see from this picture, he falls asleep grumpy.

  • His eating has changed since he turned one.  Used to, he ate everything in sight. Lately he is getting more and more picky.  He will spit out food if he doesn't like it.  I made spaghetti the other night and he would not touch it. Some foods he loves are:
    • Mac n cheese
    • chicken
    • beans
    • hamburger meat
    • bread
    • goldfish
    • bananas
    • yogurt
    • applesauce---As you can see no veggies at all! We have given him peas, carrots, green beans, broccoli, he spits them out.  He is learning how to use the spoon and is quite messy with it as you can imagine.

  • He is giving us kisses, waves bye, claps his hands and signs more. He has become quite the talker.  He can say:
    • Mama
    • Dada
    • Bubba (Logan)
    • Ball
    • Bye
    • Hi
    • Night Night
    • Fish (kind of)
    • Cheese (it is more like cheeeee when I tell him to say cheese for a pic)
    • No

  • This kid LOVES balls! He will throw around a ball (and he actually throws pretty good!) and be entertained.  He would rather have a ball than any other toy. We have a balloon that has been blown up for a while and he loves to toss it to us and then go after it.
  • He is still not walking.  He has taken a few steps behind a push toy, but that is about it.  He walks along the couch and will walk with us when we hold on to him, but hasn't gotten the courage to let go just yet. We always laugh and say his big belly is throwing him off balance!

  • LOVES his brother.  Oh man, always wants to be where brother is and do what brother is doing.  He calls him "bubba" and Logan loves it.  They play very well together and loves to get on the floor and wrestle.  Logan is gentle, but Mason seems to be the rough house one.  Logan can always seem to get Mason to laugh or dance.

Buggie boy, you are just growing up too fast for us! We love you to the moon and back!

Sweet, sweet brothers

I always knew Logan was going to be a great big brother.  He is such a sweet, sensitive caring soul. So when Mason came along, he was smitten from the start.  Like obsessed with baby Mason or "Buggie" as we call him. He always wanted to get him his bottle, pacifier or just wanting to kiss him.

When Mason started to crawl at about 9 months, he also started to follow big brother around.  Logan was so excited to show him new things and play with him.  Around Mason's first birthday he learned to wave bye, clap, and throw balls (he loves any kind of ball, maybe we have a future athlete?) and Logan thought this was the best thing ever.  They "wrestle" together and Logan can ALWAYS make Mason laugh, especially when Mason is throwing one of his temper tantrums, which are more and more frequent these days. Everyday when I drop Mason off in his class first, Logan has to get Buggie a toy and give him a kiss on his head and a wave goodbye before he goes to his class.

Logan will always run to Mason to try and get him to calm down or give him a toy, or food,  Food normally works to calm him down.  Ha! Logan always wants to "match" Mason if they have clothes or jammies that are the same, he loves it.  I told him the other day:
Me: Logan, you have to always protect Mason ok?
Logan: Ok mommy, if someone is mean to Buggie, I am going to kick them in the face!
Wow, ok buddy didn't mean for it to be that violent but you get the picture, he loves his baby brother.

I picked Logan up from school yesterday and his teacher said she witnessed the sweetest thing between Logan and Mason. Out on the playground, a little boy made Logan cry (this is very out of character for him) and he was inside a playhouse crying.  Mason heard him from the other side of the playground and crawled (yes, still no walking yet) over to the fence and put his little hand through to reach out to his big brother.  They sat and held hands and Mason calmed Logan down.  His teacher said they sat like that for a good 10 minutes.  My heart overflowed.
I have such a big love for these boys and my heart is so happy they have that same love for each other.  Not all the time.  Sometimes Mason will hit Logan or Logan will get annoyed with Mason. But they will have that brotherhood bond their whole life.  I just love these sweet, sweet brothers.
