Cousin-time, baby shower and bean dip!

We had a great weekend! Bryan's cousin Chris (more like his brother all of Bryan's cousins grew up together and are all very close!) and his wife and their brand new baby Kelsey came to our house to visit on Saturday.  I have been seeing little babies back to back and I love it! Logan has been in school since he was 6 weeks old and surrounded by babies at daycare so he was not too interested in Kelsey, he eventually warmed up to her.  But he wanted to climb in her pink bouncer everytime he got a chance, silly boy! It was so good to see them and I can't even remember what Logan was like that small.  It was not long ago but time goes by too quick. I had to leave to go to a baby shower from 4-6 so they stayed and visited more. When I got home we went and ate at Koppe Bridge, a local burger place...so yummy!

Logan meet Kelsey

Checking her out

I think Bryan looks good holding a baby girl....although I would prefer the next one to be a boy....Bryan really wants a little girl and this picture melts my heart, if we did have a girl she would be wrapped around his finger for sure!!!

Cousins and their babies....Kelsey was pretty much over the pictures!!

I went to my director's baby shower and it was so cute! Themed Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Suess.  She already has a little boy Jackson who is 2 and baby Andrew will be here the end of September.  I wanted to try a bean dip that I saw on pinterest called Texas Trash.  It turned out pretty darn yummy.

1 Block of cream cheese (8oz)
1 tub of sour cream (8oz)
2 cans of refried beans (16 oz each)
1 packet of taco mix
4 cups shredded cheese

Preheat the oven to 350.  Spray the 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray.
Mix the cream cheese and sour cream together in a bowl.  Once that is mixed good, mix in the beans and the taco mix.  Layer the 13 x 19 pan with the mixture.  Top with shredded cheese and bake 25 minutes.  Serve with tortilla chips.

We spent all day yesterday in our pj's (yep I admitted that) and it was awesome.  I even got to take a 45 minute nap while Logan was napping! I can't remember the last time I napped because when he goes to sleep I am normally doing things around the house.  This upcoming Friday is my birthday, 28 yay! Not sure the plans yet or even if we have plans.  Lame, I know.  All I know is we are getting the Hunger Games in our Netflix this week and I am super duper excited about watching it! I read the first two books and I could not put them down.  I am on the third one and it is a little hard getting into it, but I am about halfway done.
Until next week.... :)

Weekend in Brenham

Last weekend we headed over to Brenham and I got to hold not one, but TWO precious babies.  Yes, it is been confirmed I have baby fever.  Too bad Logan will not be a big brother for a few more years.  Unless we start to make lots more money soon, which I don't see happening.  Blah.  On Saturday we went and visited my good friend Crystal and baby Beckett.  He is so sweet, only 2 weeks old. Ahhh the newborn smell. I have missed that smell. (Logan now smells like a little boy, sweat mostly!)  She has 2 other boys as well, she has her hands full for sure! It was nice to get to catch up with her, have not seen her in years.

Then we headed over to my best friend Mark's parents house and I got to see baby Jackson finally! He will be 2 months old on the 18th.  We had such a good time talking and reminiscing like old times! He is so cute, looks just like Mark.   I got to hold him for just a little bit before he started crying :( Logan kept looking at me funny when I was holding the baby, but he did not seem to care too much.  He just ran off and played with the dogs outside!

How is it my child looks so big...tear.

That night was the first night for them to be away from Jackson so we all decided to go out and have an adult night while the grandparents watched the babies.  It was fun and we even stayed out until past midnight---gasp! It does make it that much harder to get out of bed when your 16 month old is up at 7am!

We had a great weekend filled with lots of friends and family! My 2 favorite things!

Fried chicken and family fun

Bryan and I have been watching Master Chef and it makes us both want to get more creative in the kitchen.  This past weekend my parents and some friends were coming over so we would be cooking for 8 people.  We thought hmmm why not try to make fried chicken?  So on the menu was:
Fried chicken
Baked beans
Cheesy Bacon Ranch Potatoes
Deviled eggs
Rolls
Peach cobbler
Everything turned out really tasty! Fried chicken takes a while to make we found out!

Like my fancy plastic plates?!

The peach cobbler was so yummy and easy.
Here is the recipe:
2 cans of peaches in light syrup
yellow cake mix
cinnamon
butter
Put the peaches in a 13x9 pan and sprinkle cinnamon over the top.  Evenly distribute the yellow cake mix over the top.  Then slice up about half a stick of butter and place evenly over the cake mix.  Oven to 350 and bake for 50 minutes.  So yummy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! You could easily do this with cherries or apples for a tasty treat.

I did realize this weekend that we have a small kitchen! There are not normally 8 people in our house but we tried to fit people in the kitchen and it just did not work, tv trays in the living room, yea we keep it classy at our house.  We also had some wine in plastic cups....oh yeaaaa.  ;)
We got to catch up with good friends and my parents just kept getting a kick out of Logan walking and all the funny things he would do.  And my Mom also realized how much work it is running around after him!
Logan has had a runny nose and cough since last week, hope little man is not getting sick, we have gone SO long without going to the doctors office, 3 months! But when he is not feeling good he likes to snuggle so I soaked it up this weekend! He took a nap in my lap on Sunday and one with Dada later that day.

River trip and no more paci!

My bestest friend Shawna is getting married in September and this past weekend we went to celebrate her last fling before the ring by floating the Guadalupe River.  We stayed in a cabin and had the best time.  The weather was hot of course but the water was cool, just pretty low, we had to get out and walk a couple of times.  It was so much fun just hanging out with some friends, enjoying some adult beverages and conversation relaxing by the river.  Not having to be on "mommy duty"  was nice to, but of course I missed it.  While I was gone, Bryan decided no more paci time.  Logan never really depended on his paci but I was not sure how well he would take it.  Well that kid must love his sleep more, no crying at all on night #1 Bryan reported.  We are on a full week with no paci and no tears at all about it.  He is like his mama and sleep is WAY more important! I was so happy and sad at the same time, my boy is growing up so fast! He stop letting me rock him at 10 months, all the bottles were put away when he was 12 months, he does not want to be held AT ALL now that he is walking and now the paci's are put away too.  This just makes me realize I have a toddler and not a baby anymore.  I am working on some crafty pinterest inspired projects this weekend and my parents are coming over and I am cooking a big dinner.  Hopefully everything turns out ok, have a great weekend everyone!
