Logan! You are 2 1/2 today! STOP growing up please?! You are closer to 3 now and that just sounds so much older than 2! Things you are up to:
Potty Training-SIGH. We are still working on it, but he does not have the concept down. He will tell us he needs to sit on the potty, but it is after he has already had an accident in your pull up. We have tried to put underwear on him, but that does not work either. He will sit in his accident and it does not bother him a bit! He will get it, I am sure he won't be wearing pull ups to kinder, right?!
Imagination: He will run around the house saying "To infinity and beyond!" and put his hands out like he is Buzz Lightyear. He also sometimes gets on all fours and says "Meow!" and saying his is a kitty cat or barks and says he is "Sushi" (he is trying to say our dog's name, Suki).
Eating: He is a pretty good eater but some nights we cannot get him to take a bite of dinner! But we just put him to bed and the next night, he will eat everything on his plate! He likes: chicken, fruit cups, fruit snacks, cheeto puffs, goldfish, tortillas, cheese, applesauce, mexican food, mac and cheese, spaghetti, bacon, eggs, waffles, poptarts, ice cream, fig newtons, popsicle, popcorn...the list goes on and on. Oh and ketchup, he will eat ketchup with a spoon. Gross.
Saying: Oh my goodness, he is a little parrot, saying everything we do! And he is getting really good at counting (all the way to eleven!) and his ABC's. Sometimes, it is hard to understand him. The other day I went into his room and he was playing and said, Mama where is tia-hey? I was like ? He kept asking and asking. I told Bryan to come in and see if he could understand him and Bryan said he was trying to say Potato Head. And we asked if that is what he was saying he said YEP!
Loving: He was really attached to his stuffed animals at 2, but now, not so much. He is into cars, trucks, trains, and loves fire engines. He loves drinking from a big boy cup (no lid). He loves movies. (No, I don't stick my kid in front of the TV all day) His favorite right now is "Meatball movie" (Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs). Bryan took him to the movies the other weekend when I was out of town and Bryan said he did great! He went to go see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, so of course he loved it! He loves to give hugs and kisses (but usually I have to say, do you want......then give mommy a kiss!) Loves playing outside and BOOKS, oh man does he love his books! We went to open house at his school and his teacher said that he is the only one out of his class that, when it is story time, will sit and listen to the entire book. I guess he got that from me :)
Logan, you are getting so grown up for me. These 6 months are going to FLY by, I just know it. You want to do everything yourself (like get in and out of his car seat, which sometimes frustrates mommy!) and I am loving that you such a little independent person, but it also makes me feel sad. You are growing up before our eyes and I wish time would slow down so you will stay little forever.

Ladies night
So every once in a while (and by once in a while, I mean like 2 times a year, sadly!) I like to get together with all of my girlfriends and have a good time. Nothing crazy (most of us are married and mommies) but we deserve it! We always talk about all getting together and having a ladies night but can never set a date so earlier this month I just sent out a message and said, hey here it the date, come if you can! Most all of them live in and around the Houston area so we planned to go out for dinner and then drinks later that night. It was so much fun! Love hanging out with these ladies and it is so amazing that all of us have been friends for so long and stay in touch. Love them :)
But Logan had a great "Dada" weekend. He got to go to the movies to see Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 and he stayed awake the entire movie! Sadly, my hubby needs to be better in the picture taking area. Not one photo! It was a much needed time away but I was so happy to be back home with my hubby and baby boy!

Best Friend
Last night we were putting Logan to bed after reading him a book. He looked up at Bryan and clearly said:
"Dada, best friend"
I looked at Bryan with the look of amazement. (and Bryan's eyes watered a little bit) I said:
"Is Daddy your best friend?" He said:
"Yea, Mama best friend too"
Ok I lost it...a little.
He is at such a sweet stage right now and the worst stage at the same time. He throws awful fits, but then says the sweetest things.
I told Bryan he better soak all this in, because we will blink and it will be 10 years from now and he will not think we are his best friends anymore. But right now, I will take it.
Logan, buddy, you showed me how to love more than I could ever imagine.
You're my best friend too.

Strong enough
I am not even sure where to start....
My Dad is the hardest working person I know, I get my drive from him. Our family is going through some hard times right now and we are in need of some prayers.
Let me back up.
August 2011 (on my birthday to be exact) my Dad calls me and tells me he got laid off from his job that he has worked for over 13 years. I cry. He tells me it will be alright and he will find something else. Months pass, and he does find something else. He works there a little while, gets laid off. He picks himself up and moves on. He takes a huge decrease in pay and starts another job. Gets laid off again. He does not give up. Then he lands a really great job, out of town. So he has to spend weeks away from my Mom and comes home some weekends. He has been working there just over a year. He is 60, he just needs to have that job for 5 more years or so, then he can start getting retirement.
At the end of last month, my Mom calls me and tells me that my Dad went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Stage 2 prostate cancer. Stage 2 is the beginning of cancer. He was going to either have to do radiation or have his prostate removed entirely. He had a few weeks to decide. He has his follow up appointment next week to decide what he wanted to do.
I was talking on the phone to my Mom last night. My Mom told me to hold on there was someone at the door (this was about 10pm). It was my Dad (he never comes home during the week). She gets back on the phone with me and said that is was Dad and that he got laid off.
I have so many questions.
WHY?
How much more can my family take?
How is he going to have his procedure done with NO insurance?
This means starting all over again. My Dad has been laid off 3 times in the last 2 years! It is so hard for him at his age to find a job. I wish I made enough money for both my parents not to work, but sadly that is not the case.
Please pray. Pray for the strength and understanding for my family right now, we need it so badly.
I know I'm not strong enough to be
Everything that I'm supposed to be
I give up
I'm not strong enough
Hands of mercy won't you cover me
Lord right now I'm asking you to be
Strong enough

Cause I'm broken
Down to nothing
But I'm still holding on to the one thing
You are God
and you are strong
When I am weak
Down to nothing
But I'm still holding on to the one thing
You are God
and you are strong
When I am weak
I can do all things
Through Christ who gives me strength
And I don't have to be
Strong enough
Strong enough

And I don't have to be
Strong enough

I'm gonna miss this.
Logan says and does the funniest things everyday! I feel like if I don't write about them I will forget!
Logan-isms:
Vitamin: "watah-min"
Fire truck: "fiyah car" (by the way we reiterate truck and he has NEVER said truck, if he sees a truck, it is a big car.)
Water hose" "watah-ho"
Grams: "jams"
Cheetos: "chee-ros"
Juice: "jooosh"
Motorcycle: "red cockle" (it does not matter if the motorcycle is not red, and everyone we see he says it is Dada on it!)
Popsicle: "cockle"
Tennis shoes "tiddy shoes"
Train: "choo choo"
Blanket: "bankie"
Donut holes: "holes"
Guitar: "tar"
Fruit snack: "fruit nack"
Snake: "nake"
Panda: "Pia"
Tortilla: Tor-teee-yahh"
Logan: "Boo-boo" (Ok this MIGHT be my fault. My child has never ever said his own name because I call him boo-boo all the time....ooooppps.)
The other night, he was about to get in the shower with Bryan
Logan: "Dada has big heine!"
(hysterical laughter from me.)
Logan: "Mama has big heine too!"
(hysterical laughter from Bryan.)
Me: "What about your heine? Is it big or little?"
Logan: "it little"
On the way home from school he was sucking down his juice from his cup and it made a noise and he laughed and laughed.
Me: "What is so funny buddy?"
Logan: "juice tooted"
:) that is my kid.
He HATES the carwash. We have taken him to the carwash twice and both reactions were the same. Sheer terror. And everyday we pass the carwash on the way to and from school. He will keep saying over and over, "I no want no carwash" until we are past it and then he will happily yell, "bye carwash see you morrow!"
He is such a funny kid. And smart. He knows all his colors and can count to 10. In true boy fashion loves cars, trucks, trains and planes. He sleeps with about 7 stuffed animals but his favorite is a little puppy he got from school. He will take off his clothes and shoes and put them away. He will throw his "tash" in the trashcan. He will open the refrigerator and raid our fridge (I can just imagine the teen years!) His favorite movies are: Planet 51, Meet the Robinsons and Kung Fu Panda 2, like he could watch those everyday. He loves going to school and especially loves his afternoon teacher and will talk all the way home about Miss "Emanee" (Emily). He is such a little person now. I am soready excited for him to grow up, but I'm gonna miss this.

Galveston Fun
We have been wanting to take Logan to the beach for a while now and last weekend we packed up the car and headed to Galveston! We were going to visit family in Santa Fe which is not far from Galveston. We headed to East Beach and got set up. We kind of knew how Mr. Cautious would react the beach and the water. He was not at all interested in getting in the water or even touching the sand at first. But his 1 year old cousin Kelsey? Fearless!! She ran to the water and got sand everywhere, she loved it! After a couple of hours there, he actually took his shoes off (yes he kept them on the entire time!) and got in the water up to his ankles, this was a big step for him! Bryan tried to take him further out in the water and he cried the whole time. He also warmed up to the sand and eventually played with his shovel and bucket. What can I say? My kid is a little bit of a drama queen and high maintenance.....he might have got that from me.....
We met up with the newly weds and it was so good to see them. We chatted about the wedding and their honeymoon. Love being able to spend time with friends and family!

We stayed until way past the sun setting, but the kiddos did so good! Logan was running on only a 10 minute nap, so he was a trooper! After a quick trip to the Whataburger drive-thru (yep, we keep it fancy) we headed back to Santa Fe. We rinsed off the kiddos, blew up the air mattress, ate and called it a night (well the girls and the kids did, Bryan and his cousin Chris stayed up until about 4am enjoying some cold ones.) The next day we headed over to my friend's apartment (only about 15 minutes down the road from where we stayed) and were going to have a pool day!
Logan did pretty good in the water, he was not sure at first but by the end he was laughing and kicking his feet. He even jumped to Bryan a few times! I made the conclusion that we need to expose him to water more. This was probably only his 3rd time in a big pool. I bought his some arm floaties and wanted NOTHING to do with them. Although Bryan found a good use for them (see below pic!) We had a blast with Aunty Stephy!

Backyard BBQ
This past weekend,we got a new BBQ pit and invited my parents and some friends over for a backyard BBQ! It was nice to just relax in our own backyard since we have been pretty busy this summer! We had a great time, lots of laughs and good eatin'!
Lately I have been feeling really stressed out and I need to take a moment and realize that I am too blessed to be stressed! This weekend we are heading to the beach to see some family and friends, I can't wait to get my toes in the sand!
| Logan and Makenna play so good together |
| Logan is almost as tall as Makenna and she is 4! |
