Wedding, baby shower and nephew time!

Whew, what a weekend! On Friday we took off early to head to Brenham for my best friend, Shawna's wedding the next day. She was the most beautiful bride! It was a country wedding which is SO Shawna and Ben.  The venue was out in Fayettville, beautiful setting! All of her decor was burlap, mason jars and sunflowers.  I had a pretty busy time fulfilling all of my bridesmaid duties so Bryan, Grams and Paw Paw were left to take care of Logan.  I missed putting that sweet boy to bed 2 nights in a row...which has never happened before.  He came to the wedding though and I really thought when he saw me coming down the aisle he was going to scream out MAMA! He didn't though, which surprised me.  Near the end of the ceremony I did hear him saying uh-oh over and over again. We danced, talked with old friends, ate fun-fetti wedding cake (yes I am totally serious...yum) and even stayed out a little late. Everything was perfect and I was so happy to be a part of their special day!

On Sunday we had to leave about 10:30am and head to the Woodlands because I was helping host a baby shower for my good friend Meredith, who is due with sweet little Savannah Rae in late November.  She got so much stuff...all pink of course! All the hostesses got together and got her the bedding she wanted.  She had a great first shower (1 of many, she has a BIG family) and I think Savannah is pretty much set! It was so fun to spend time with the girls that I don't get to see that often.

I also made a really yummy punch and everyone was asking about the recipe! Here it is, super simple.

Princess Punch
1 bottle ginger ale
1 can pineapple juice
1 frozen can of pink lemonade
2 1/2 cups of water

Mix all together, ta-da! The receipe says to also add strawberry ice cream in the bottom of the cup before you pour the punch in, but it did not taste as good so I just omitted that part.  Next time I might add fresh strawberries that might be good.

And since we were in the Woodlands, I could not leave without seeing my sweet 6 year old nephew Hunter and 6 month old nephew Hayden.  Love those boys.  We all went out to Tutti Frutti for frozen yogurt.  Logan loved it, we even gave Hayden some too and he ate it up that little chubb chubb.  He is so chunky! I love his rolls on his legs.  Hunter was so cute wanting to tell me all about first grade....first grade! I remember when he was born and I know I am going to blink and Logan will be going to college :(

It was a short visit but we had to head home, we were so tired.  Logan cried on and off the whole way home.  We had a long...but really great weekend!

I got bitch slapped.

Yes that is right, by my 17 month old son.  Every night the past few weeks he has been a little squirmy wormy after we sing songs.  I always ask him for a hug and kiss, before he goes in his crib and usually he does this and normally gives me extra long hugs....which of course I soak in.  Last night I asked him for a hug and he flipped out on me, trying to get out of my arms.  Oh no, I was getting my hug and kiss! So after that I asked again and this just made him even more mad.  So he looked at me...and slapped me.  Right across the face...hard.  I was stunned and after I realized what he did, I said no Logan we do NOT hit and I smacked him on his hand.  That did not seem to bother him, he just kept on throwing a fit in my arms.  I held him until he calmed down and kept asking for a hug and kiss.  He FINALLY did.  After I walked out of his room I told my husband Logan had slapped me.  He said, he didn't mean to and I know he didn't, but it hurt my heart a little....ok a lot.  What happened to my sweet baby boy?
This morning he woke up and came in the bathroom while I was getting ready and I asked him for a hug and kiss and he gladly did.  Ok, my heart is full again.

My SWEET boy.  Well...MOSTof the time.

Hodge Podge

This post is going to be a hodge podge of things!

Our Laredo trip:
2 weeks ago we went to Laredo to see all of Bryan's family.  The trip is about 6 hours so we took some extra days off to spend more time with them.  Logan did great on the way there, he slept most of the time and we stopped at the biggest Buccee's I have ever seen, like holy bajeezus.  I wish I had more time to spend in there other than just to go pee and use the super duper clean bathrooms.

Yes I am a NERD.
We made it to Laredo at about 1:30am and the first few nights were rough for Logan.  New place, pack n play (which he almost does not fit in anymore!).  But we had a great time! We got to spend time with all the new babies.  So Bryan has lots of cousins and they all grew up like brothers and 3 of them had babies in 2012.  Like in April, May and July! So it was fun seeing them all together and teaching Logan how to be "gentle"....umm yea right.  We took turns playing with Logan outside because 1. That is all he wanted to do and 2.  I did not want him to trample his cousins.  It was so neat to see how fatherhood had changed all the boys.  They went from talks about going to the bar to explosive poopy diapers.  It changes you let me tell you!

The DADDIES

The MOMMIES (with someone else's baby in their arms!)

On Sunday it was really special because all the babies got dedicated at the church that the boys grew up in.  Logan was actually good during the dedication but we had to hurry and get him to the nursery afterwards, he was getting cranky and bored.  We go to church almost every Sunday and Logan goes to the nursery, we are not going to be those parents that have to take their kid out every 10 minutes.  Hello the nursery is for that....anyways.  Logan got a little baby bible that had his name on it and it was really nice of Bryan's Aunt to put it together.

THE FAMILY!!

We also made it over to TAMIU to see lots of my old co-workers and how the campus has changed so much in the past 2 years! Yes, I will have been at Texas A&M 2 years in October...wowza. It was nice to see them and get to chat, they could not believe how big Logan was....I sometimes can't either!

Jerry, Miguel and Mayra.  My old crew in Student Affairs! Go Dustdevils!!

Tia Christy! Logan was pretty much wore out by that point...can you tell by his face?

After what seemed like only a few days (it was actually 5!) we headed home.  It was a long ride.  Logan napped a little but...let's just say it was a long ride home and we will leave it at that.  We did get to stop at the gigantic Buccee's again and let Logan run around.  It was actually great because they had fresh fruits and cheeses so Logan got to have a heathy snack.  We made it home and pretty much crashed out.

64 gas pumps! I am SO glad we can stop here on our way to Laredo now! In case anyone is wondering, it is the Canyon Lake exit!

The next week I decided to try some new recipes: Pepperoni stuffed chicken breast with cheesy pull apart garlic bread and a Chicken cordon bleu cassarole.  Both turned out pretty darn yummy.  See the recipes on my pinterest board Yums here:

We have been letting Logan feed himself more and more, and while it is messy, he is getting the hang out it! This was him the other night eating yogurt after his dinner.  He is a mess!

I will wrap up the hodge podge post with a great find I found on the side of the road while walking with my neighbor.

Isn't it great?? Bryan and I will be staining it and it will be our new headboard. It looks like it is an old top of a picnic table but in great shape! I will post pics when it is done.

Cousin-time, baby shower and bean dip!

We had a great weekend! Bryan's cousin Chris (more like his brother all of Bryan's cousins grew up together and are all very close!) and his wife and their brand new baby Kelsey came to our house to visit on Saturday.  I have been seeing little babies back to back and I love it! Logan has been in school since he was 6 weeks old and surrounded by babies at daycare so he was not too interested in Kelsey, he eventually warmed up to her.  But he wanted to climb in her pink bouncer everytime he got a chance, silly boy! It was so good to see them and I can't even remember what Logan was like that small.  It was not long ago but time goes by too quick. I had to leave to go to a baby shower from 4-6 so they stayed and visited more. When I got home we went and ate at Koppe Bridge, a local burger place...so yummy!

Logan meet Kelsey

Checking her out

I think Bryan looks good holding a baby girl....although I would prefer the next one to be a boy....Bryan really wants a little girl and this picture melts my heart, if we did have a girl she would be wrapped around his finger for sure!!!

Cousins and their babies....Kelsey was pretty much over the pictures!!

I went to my director's baby shower and it was so cute! Themed Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Suess.  She already has a little boy Jackson who is 2 and baby Andrew will be here the end of September.  I wanted to try a bean dip that I saw on pinterest called Texas Trash.  It turned out pretty darn yummy.

1 Block of cream cheese (8oz)
1 tub of sour cream (8oz)
2 cans of refried beans (16 oz each)
1 packet of taco mix
4 cups shredded cheese

Preheat the oven to 350.  Spray the 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray.
Mix the cream cheese and sour cream together in a bowl.  Once that is mixed good, mix in the beans and the taco mix.  Layer the 13 x 19 pan with the mixture.  Top with shredded cheese and bake 25 minutes.  Serve with tortilla chips.

We spent all day yesterday in our pj's (yep I admitted that) and it was awesome.  I even got to take a 45 minute nap while Logan was napping! I can't remember the last time I napped because when he goes to sleep I am normally doing things around the house.  This upcoming Friday is my birthday, 28 yay! Not sure the plans yet or even if we have plans.  Lame, I know.  All I know is we are getting the Hunger Games in our Netflix this week and I am super duper excited about watching it! I read the first two books and I could not put them down.  I am on the third one and it is a little hard getting into it, but I am about halfway done.
Until next week.... :)

Weekend in Brenham

Last weekend we headed over to Brenham and I got to hold not one, but TWO precious babies.  Yes, it is been confirmed I have baby fever.  Too bad Logan will not be a big brother for a few more years.  Unless we start to make lots more money soon, which I don't see happening.  Blah.  On Saturday we went and visited my good friend Crystal and baby Beckett.  He is so sweet, only 2 weeks old. Ahhh the newborn smell. I have missed that smell. (Logan now smells like a little boy, sweat mostly!)  She has 2 other boys as well, she has her hands full for sure! It was nice to get to catch up with her, have not seen her in years.

Then we headed over to my best friend Mark's parents house and I got to see baby Jackson finally! He will be 2 months old on the 18th.  We had such a good time talking and reminiscing like old times! He is so cute, looks just like Mark.   I got to hold him for just a little bit before he started crying :( Logan kept looking at me funny when I was holding the baby, but he did not seem to care too much.  He just ran off and played with the dogs outside!

How is it my child looks so big...tear.

That night was the first night for them to be away from Jackson so we all decided to go out and have an adult night while the grandparents watched the babies.  It was fun and we even stayed out until past midnight---gasp! It does make it that much harder to get out of bed when your 16 month old is up at 7am!

We had a great weekend filled with lots of friends and family! My 2 favorite things!

Fried chicken and family fun

Bryan and I have been watching Master Chef and it makes us both want to get more creative in the kitchen.  This past weekend my parents and some friends were coming over so we would be cooking for 8 people.  We thought hmmm why not try to make fried chicken?  So on the menu was:
Fried chicken
Baked beans
Cheesy Bacon Ranch Potatoes
Deviled eggs
Rolls
Peach cobbler
Everything turned out really tasty! Fried chicken takes a while to make we found out!

Like my fancy plastic plates?!

The peach cobbler was so yummy and easy.
Here is the recipe:
2 cans of peaches in light syrup
yellow cake mix
cinnamon
butter
Put the peaches in a 13x9 pan and sprinkle cinnamon over the top.  Evenly distribute the yellow cake mix over the top.  Then slice up about half a stick of butter and place evenly over the cake mix.  Oven to 350 and bake for 50 minutes.  So yummy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! You could easily do this with cherries or apples for a tasty treat.

I did realize this weekend that we have a small kitchen! There are not normally 8 people in our house but we tried to fit people in the kitchen and it just did not work, tv trays in the living room, yea we keep it classy at our house.  We also had some wine in plastic cups....oh yeaaaa.  ;)
We got to catch up with good friends and my parents just kept getting a kick out of Logan walking and all the funny things he would do.  And my Mom also realized how much work it is running around after him!
Logan has had a runny nose and cough since last week, hope little man is not getting sick, we have gone SO long without going to the doctors office, 3 months! But when he is not feeling good he likes to snuggle so I soaked it up this weekend! He took a nap in my lap on Sunday and one with Dada later that day.

My sweetness

River trip and no more paci!

My bestest friend Shawna is getting married in September and this past weekend we went to celebrate her last fling before the ring by floating the Guadalupe River.  We stayed in a cabin and had the best time.  The weather was hot of course but the water was cool, just pretty low, we had to get out and walk a couple of times.  It was so much fun just hanging out with some friends, enjoying some adult beverages and conversation relaxing by the river.  Not having to be on "mommy duty"  was nice to, but of course I missed it.  While I was gone, Bryan decided no more paci time.  Logan never really depended on his paci but I was not sure how well he would take it.  Well that kid must love his sleep more, no crying at all on night #1 Bryan reported.  We are on a full week with no paci and no tears at all about it.  He is like his mama and sleep is WAY more important! I was so happy and sad at the same time, my boy is growing up so fast! He stop letting me rock him at 10 months, all the bottles were put away when he was 12 months, he does not want to be held AT ALL now that he is walking and now the paci's are put away too.  This just makes me realize I have a toddler and not a baby anymore.  I am working on some crafty pinterest inspired projects this weekend and my parents are coming over and I am cooking a big dinner.  Hopefully everything turns out ok, have a great weekend everyone!
