SUPER Halloween Fun

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.  I love picking out our costumes and with kids, it is even MORE fun!

First was heading to the Pumpkin patch to pick out a perfect pumpkin!

While we were there, my friend took some pics of the boys.

Then we headed to our friend's house for some pumpkin carving! Logan picked a pretty creepy looking face to carve so our Halloween pumpkin this year was named "Creepy" obviously.

We decided on a "super hero" theme since Logan is on a super hero kick.  He originally had picked out Batman, which would have been a little easier since we already had the mask from his birthday party, but the last minute changed his mind to Captain America.
We had already called Mason "baby Hulk" since he was born so naturally, he had to be the Hulk.

We went trick or treating and Logan had a blast! The combination of the excitement, wearing a mask and it being a little wet from rain did not help that he fell down twice.  He dropped all his candy and screamed "I don't like trick or treating anymore!" After a few tears and him being dramatic, we kept going.  We went by a really spooky haunted house and most of the kids would not go up to the door, but our brave Captain America did it with ease! He was always so polite in saying "Happy Halloween" and "Thank You" to everyone he got candy from.

After the kids buckets were so full they could barely carry them, we headed back to the house.  Logan actually had more fun handing out candy to all the kids walking by.  He was actually yelling at them to come over to the house, it was pretty funny.
Baby Hulk was easy breezy and just hung out the entire night.  He was perfectly content in the stroller.

It was a SUPER fun Halloween!

Mason is growing!

Mason is growing up so fast I can hardly get a chance to jot things down!
He is loving baby food and real people food.
He has one lonely tooth at the bottom that popped through around 9 months. He loves to scoot around like an inchworm and has not yet crawled up on his hands and knees.
He does not like to be changed.  He loves to blow raspberries, it is probably one of his most favorite things! Mason just adores his big brother. Logan can do no wrong in his eyes.  And Logan still LOVES to love on Mason.  Not sure how long that sweetness will last, but I am soaking it up.  He also loves bath time with Logan.  Logan can make him laugh more than mommy or daddy.
He is SUCH a happy, squishy, lovable little guy.  We love you to the moon Buggie!

Pink eye and picnics

Wow it has been a while since I have blogged!

Pink eye hit our house a few weeks ago and it felt like it would never leave!
Logan brought it home first, then gave it to Mason, then mommy, then daddy.
Mason also gave it to another baby in his class and his teacher! I was so ready for the pink eye of 2015 to be gone! Pink eye is super contagious and we were using hand sanitizer and washing our hands it seemed like always.  And I was yelling at Logan "don't touch your brother, don't touch your eyes. just don't touch anything!"
After about a week, we were back to normal. My poor Mason had it the worst of everyone.
Although his eyes were crusty and he could barely see, he was still my happy little guy. mostly.  At the same time he was also fighting an ear infection.  My poor baby.

Oh did I mention the boys school pictures were in the middle of this?  Logan was rid of the pink eye but Mason was (obviously) not.

While we were on the mend, Logan thought it would be a GREAT idea to have a picnic at the park one Sunday. It was actually really nice weather and Logan was pumped we were eating outside.  He said it was the best day ever.  :)

This weekend we will be heading to the pumpkin patch to pick out a perfect pumpkin.  Now let's just hope fall weather comes around soon!

Let them be little

Before becoming a mother, I didn't get why my mom would say "I can't believe you are [insert age here] at every birthday.

I get it.  I have kids now.

How can you be so happy that they are growing up but so sad at the same time?  Me and time need to have a talk.  It needs to slow down, just a bit.  Let me soak it all in.  Let me hold them a little longer. Let them be little.

I was in Target the other day and saw all the school supplies and it hit me like a ton of bricks.  My throat started to swell.  That will be us next year.  Logan goes to kinder NEXT YEAR.

It did not help that I was also in the baby section and was looking at all the cute onesies and realized that Mason is in 12 month clothes (all they had up to was 6-9 in the particular outfit I liked).  He is also slowly loosing that baby smell.

Why does time go by so fast once you have kids?!

Conversation with Logan:
Me: Don't grow up.  Don't ever leave me.
Logan: I have to.  I have to go to work. But I won't leave you.  I'm going to marry you and you, me, Daddy, and Buggie (Mason) can all live together forever. (I kind of wish this actually would happen).
Me:  Sounds good to me.
Logan:  Well I already told Mackenzie (little girl in his class) I would marry her, so I can marry both of you.
Me: Well I am already married to Daddy.
Logan: Awww man, well you can be married to both of us.
Me: OK buddy. I love you forever all the way to the moon.
Logan: Well I love you all the way to the rocket ship!

There are some days when I definitely get frustrated and lose my patience.  But then there are the sweet moments I never want to let go of.

Mason is 6 months!

Mason is half a year old! As I am typing this, he is days away from being 7 months! Life with 2 kids goes by too fast!

Weight: 16 pounds, 9 ounces

Clothes: put away all the 3-6 and had to get the 9 and even some 12 month clothes! He wore a shirt the other day Logan wore at 13 months :) He is just the "big" little brother!

Diapers: We moved up to a size 3 around 5 months

Diet: I exclusively pumped breast milk for 6 months (which was SO hard, but SO happy I made it to that point!). Once I hit 6 months, I dove into my freezer stash which took up most of our freezer.  At one point  My goal was only to pump until I went back to work at 10 weeks, but I kept on! It was so time consuming, but saved us money! He had his first taste of formula this month, I *almost* made it to the 7th month mark. I am still pumping a little bit, only enough to make one bottle a day.  Hopefully he takes to formula and we wont have any problems. Then I can ditch the pump.  He also started baby food this month.  We tried at 4 months, but he just did not seem ready.  He has loved everything we have given him! He gets a fruit for lunch and a veggie for dinner. He is like a little bird and opens his mouth as soon as he sees the jar or the spoon.  He has also tried yogurt which he loves.  We tried to give him eggs and he made a yuk face and spit them out.  He still eats about 5, 6 ounce bottles a day.

Milestones/firsts: He has done SO much this month! Rolling over, laughing (and squealing) baby food, loving tummy time, sleeping in his big boy crib (ONE night of letting him CIO  and that is all it took!), sticking out his tongue, sitting up pretty much on his own, still a little wobbly.  He went swimming for the first time and just loved splashing around in the water.  He is also holding his own bottle pretty good, still needs some help.  Reaching for EVERYTHING and pulling it to his mouth! Lots of drool, but no teeth as of yet.

Health: He got a bad rash on his next when he was almost 5 months old.  We thought it was the result of not being able to hold his head up very good.  But the rash turned worse and we took him in to the doctor.  She said he had developed a yeast infection and prescribed some cream.  We slathered the cream on twice a day and his neck got worse.  Then the rash spread all over this little body.  Back to the doctor we went and she put him on antibiotics.  A full month later, we still have to make sure his neck is always dry.  Even a little moisture and it flares back up. He also had cradle cap, which he had when he was a newborn, but it went away after some treatment.  For the most part, he is very healthy! Must be the breast milk.  By this point with Logan, we had already been to the doctor several times for cough and fever.

Likes: We call him our smiley guy! He smiles all the time, he is such a happy little man.  Most everyone can make him laugh and smile, but he gives the biggest smiles to his big brother! He likes his bouncer and all his toys.  He will just play independently (which is nice when I need to get things done.) He likes food! We say the only time he really gets mad is if he is hungry or REALLY tired.  We have nicknamed him "the Hulk" because his cry is more angry than sad.  He likes to be held and rocked.  But when he is overly tired, he just wants to be in his crib or be held.  He also loves the baby sling. He likes to be facing out looking at everybody. We have not used the stroller hardly at all.  With Logan, he hated the sling and loved the stroller.  Funny how kids are so different!

Dislikes: Not much! If he wants to be held he gets mad if you put him down.  Also if he sees a bottle or baby food and you do not feed him right them, he will let you know.  Hulk Smash! Logan loved the swing. Like I am talking taking naps in the swing up until he was 15 months old! Mason is not a fan of it.  He will go in it, but will not fall asleep there.  He would rather be laying in his bed or be in our bed for naps.  He has also gotten to the point where he is a little roly poly trying to change his diaper has become more challenging since he wants to roll everywhere.

Misc: Cannot believe he is 6 months old, time is just flying! He is such a sweet happy baby.  Logan still loves his baby brother so much! I love to see the two of them together, my heart is so full.

And now...lots of pics....
